WHAT IS HAPKIDO? 

Hapkido is a dynamic martial art of Korean origin. It's name literally means 'the art of coordinated power". Hapkido is a combination of two Korean martial arts- Yoo Sool which comes from the Japanese art of Daito Ryu Aiki -Jutsu and Taek Kyeon which is an ancient Korean kicking art. It is a complete martial art that blends the striking and kicking techniques similar to Taekwondo along with throws, takedowns and extensive joint locking techniques. Weapons such as the staff, sword, short stick and cane are learned at higher levels.

In addition to learning effective self defense, Hapkido training provides the student with the means to improve their physical fitness, awareness, flexibility and self confidence. 

 Decatur Martial Arts Academy is certified and recognized by the World Kido Federation/Hanminjok Hapkido Association.
